សុភាវធម៌ សុជីវធម៌ សីលធម៌ និងគុណធម៌

ការពន្យល់ពាក្យខ្មែរដោយបំរើបំរាស់ភាសាអង់គ្លេស (The use of English analogy to clarify the meaning of Khmer words) Decency (សុភាវធម៌)៖ a set of positive qualities, which can be further classified into morality, moral/ethic and virtue Morality (សុជីវធម៌) : the quality of being right, honest, or acceptable *Moral or Ethic (សីលធម៌)​ : a set of principles that people use to decide what is right and what is wrong e.g. avoiding bothering, exploiting, harassing, betraying, or cheating others Virtue (គុណធម៌) : the general quality of being morally good towards others e.g. care, encouragement, warn, advice or generosity *In English, moral and ethic can mostly be used interchangeably. However, there is a slight difference. Moral is motivated by internal forces, while ethic is by external ones e.g. teacher’s or doctor’s professional ethics. Even so, both is probably an equivalent to an only Khmer word “សីលធម៌” (Sil-la-thor).
